The Quality Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, leading and controlling the Operational Quality function relating to the assurance of the quality of incoming and outgoing product quality and customer satisfaction within a specific site or geography.

Position is based in our Morris Plains, NJ office

Responsibilities

  • Plans, coordinates, maintains, and continually improves the quality management system to ensure development and manufacturing of products meet established requirements and in conformance with 21 CFR 820 (Quality System Regulations for Medical Devices) and the corresponding ISO standards by performing the following duties personally or through relationships with other company staff

  • Handles timely and effective operations audits, assessments, and inspections, and supports ISO audits

  • Partners with internal customers to help them achieve their goals, i.e., Purchasing, Manufacturing, etc. and to drive common practices across all locations

  • Supervises on-site quality operations to evade quality/product alerts and stop ships

  • Develops timely and accurate operations performance reports for delivery and quality in order to provide effective feedback

  • Conducts timely and effective MRB reviews (in-process-WIP and incoming non-conformances) that 1) assure the continued integrity of the process and 2) initiate the proper corrective action and feedback, as vital

  • Provides training to key resources, as needed, to assure high quality components and assemblies

  • Effectively utilizes quality engineering tools (statistical process control, capability studies, etc.) to assess in-house processes and capabilities

  • Handles documentation and timely completion of effective Material Inspection Instructions (MII's) to support Receiving Inspection and align the inspections methods between our suppliers and our company

  • Ensures timely and effective failure analysis investigations into quality issues

  • Conducts product outgoing quality audits that provide useful information to the stakeholders in a timely manner

  • Maintains an accurate, timely and cost-effective equipment calibration program

  • Assists in the standardization of quality policies and procedures

  • Provides leadership and support for a Lean environment

  • Performs reviews of documented procedures, processes and practices for compliance with stated requirements, incorporating external standards and company policies.

  • Reviews qualification protocols for accuracy and completeness.

  • Responsible for final product batch record review and final release.

  • Acts as a contingency approver for the QC managerial function of raw material and interim material (ie. manufactured ink) release.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required

  • 6+ years experience, including minimum 2 years as team lead/supervisor required

Preferred Requirements:

  • Proficient in root-cause analysis based corrective action process, SPC, Cp/CpK, Design of

  • Certified Green Belt or Black Belt preferred

  • Knowledge of ISO 9001, 13485, or GMP for medical device strongly preferred

  • Experiments, Design for Manufacturability, Design for Six Sigma, etc.

  • Validated leadership and initiative

  • Experience implementing and maintaining ISO quality systems

  • Solid understanding of lean manufacturing/six sigma tools and concepts

  • Superior problem-solving skills
